Lee and Lori Herseth, had been operating the resort for over thirty years, living at the resort year around and enjoying all of the seasons. Unfortunately, Lori Herseth passed away on July 30th 2025. Lee will be continuing the tradition of operating the the resort that Lori loved so much.
Lee is a third generation owner. Lee’s grandparents Max and Maybelle started Herseth’s Tomahawk resort on Lake Kabetogama back in 1929. Lee grew up at the resort working for his parents Thor and Helen, who ran it for more than 30 years. We have three children, Donny, Jamee and Cortney. Donny and Jamee helped run the resort for many years but now have moved on to their own careers and live out of the area. They miss the resort and the natural beauty of our lake so they always find time to come home for summer holidays and long weekends. Cortney’s been busy attending college and helps out when she’s home for the summer.
We strive to provide our guests with a cherished family vacation. It must be working since we have many guests that have been coming to the resort for more than twenty years in a row. We love to see our guests making family memories such as catching your first fish, enjoying family time on the beach, having an evening campfire or learning a new water sport. We also like seeing our guests enjoy the best thing we can offer: relaxation. Voyageurs National Park is truly one of Minnesota’s greatest treasures. We look forward and welcome the opportunity to share it with you, your family and friends.
